Arts for All
Arts for All is a new province-wide initiative of the Soundbone Traditional Arts Foundation which aims to employ professional artists to deliver interactive traditional arts programs. We intend to reach those who are disadvantaged in accessing traditional arts such as storytelling, dance, and music. The social groups we have in mind can be found in care homes, hospitals, other healthcare settings, or other organizations which seek to support people who are marginalized. You may find yourself working with people with a diversity of abilities (physical or cognitive), young children through seniors, immigrants, and more. In the past we have worked with L'Arche NL, seniors homes, and daycares. Currently we are planning programming in conjunction with the Autism Society and NLHS Veteran's Memorial Pavilion. More organizations will be added as Arts for All progresses. Our mentorship program will assist artists with the skills and specialist support to perform in a variety of settings.
Since 2017 the Soundbone Foundation has been working with students and arts organizations through our Cultural Ambassador Program, providing summer employment and mentorship for young musicians. Arts for All extends this concept to professional musicians who have finished their training and/or apprenticeship, enabling them to obtain employment and work experience at a crucial time in their careers.
Artists are paid nationally accepted rates as a supplementary income. They will perform in a variety of venues and will be given mentorship training at the beginning of their contract as well as follow-up support throughout the program.
